The Opportunity
Beam Planning is expanding, and we are looking for an experienced Associate or Principal Planner to join our team. This role is suited to someone who thrives on navigating complex projects, shaping great outcomes, and providing strategic guidance to clients.

As a consultancy working across some of NSW’s most significant precincts and projects, we are seeking someone who can bring strong technical capability, confident engagement skills, and a passion for quality. Our current projects include a range of local and State significant rezonings, policy development and advice, as well as local, regional, Housing Delivery Authority projects and State Significant Development applications.

Your Role
In this role you will take a lead in managing projects, mentoring and guiding other team members, and develop strong relationships with our clients. Key tasks will include:

Leading projects including rezonings and SSDAs

Providing high-level planning advice to government and private sector clients

Mentoring and guiding junior team members

Building relationships with key stakeholders and clients

Contributing to the growth of the business

Key Requirements
We are seeking a candidate with the following attributes:

A Tertiary qualification in Planning or related degree/discipline.

8+ years’ experience in statutory planning, ideally with consulting experience

Strong understanding and in-depth knowledge of the NSW planning system, recent planning reforms, and assessment processes

Proven ability to lead projects and collaborate with other team members

Excellent writing, communication, and client-management skills

A collaborative, proactive mindset and passion for shaping great places
